Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
At Rheem Elementary, we want every student to feel included, welcomed, safe, supported, respected and valued. In conjunction with the Moraga School District, we are committed to advancing diversity, inclusion and equity. We honor the uniqueness of each individual and embrace diverse backgrounds, identities, values, and points of view to build a strong, inclusive community.
Through the work of our Rheem community of parents, teachers, staff and PTA we have ongoing dialogue, education, an on-site staff resource library and events throughout the year that promote and advance diversity, equity and inclusion. Our hope is that this creates an environment for all students to thrive and for all of our families to feel connected.
Rheem Staff Resource Library:
Through the Rheem PTA, school, and teacher support, we built a staff lending library full of inclusive stories and diverse authors teaching the topics of Diversity, Identity, Justice, and Action. With over 100 titles to choose from, there are beautiful stories connecting our students to themes that make for a better school, community, and world. Rheem staff access this library to incorporate these books into their class curriculum.
Special thank you to Shanna Dennis and Kim Habas for all their hard work in building this special library.
